Eisenbau Krämer
(EBK)
The production range extends from a minimum diameter of 12” (323.9 mm) up to a maximum of 4.5 metres, with thicknesses that can reach 220 mm. The three factories are all located in Germany, in the North Rhine-Westphalia region
APM – EBK collaboration
The cooperation between APM and EBK first began in 1993 and, over the years, has evolved far
beyond a purely commercial relationship into a close partnership founded on trust, transparency,
and friendship — becoming a tangible demonstration of our commitment to long-term relationships
PRODUCTS, MATERIALS AND APPLICATIONS
Products
SAW-Longitudinal large diameter carbon steel and CLAD pipes
Materials
Carbon steel and low alloy steel
In accordance with API5L, API2B, ASTM, ASME in the grades:
- API 5L: Grade B to X120
- API 2B: grades S275 to S550
- ASTM A671, 672, 691
Clad
- Metallurgical Clad pipes:
2-layer steel pipes manufactured from a clad mother plate, typically produced by rolling or (few cases) through explosion bonding process - Metallurgical Clad pipes: Mechanical Clad pipes: EBK’s patented ROLL CLAD® pipes are produced by combining two pipes: a carbon steel carrier pipe and a CRA (corrosion-resistant alloy) liner. The liner is inserted into the carrier and then securely joined through a mechanical process that generates optimal bonding forces between the layers
Applications
Process pipes
Petrochemical industry (pipeline, plants)
Structural Pipes
Commonly used in the civil construction sector, as well as industrial, oil & gas, renewable sector:
- Offshore platforms (piles, legs, bracings)
- Architectural and load-bearing structures for civil works (bridges, skyscrapers, hangars, stadiums)
Mechanical pipes
Paper industry (drying rollers, suction rollers, etc.), also in duplex and super duplex
Special applications
Buckle arrestors
EBK is a leading manufacturer of welded buckle arrestors, with global references among major operators and EPC contractors, and a technological leadership highly valued by the market Buckle arrestors are ultra-heavy wall pipes used during pipeline laying operations in deep and ultra- deep waters. They protect pipelines from buckling phenomena that typically occur due to high stresses and forces: when plastic deformation is triggered on a pipe, it can propagate along entire sections of a pipeline. This deformation stops only when it encounters a sufficiently strong obstacle — the so-called “buckle arrestor” — a pipe with the same chemical and mechanical properties as the line pipe but approximately twice the wall thickness
Mother pipes for bends
EBK is also a global leader in the production of welded pipes used for manufacturing hot induction bends — large-radius, hot-formed curves essential to any pipeline, with quantities varying according to the geomorphology of the installation area
In Italy, the estimated average is approximately five bends per kilometer of pipeline
